TBG client, Brambleton, announces Library of the Future in Loudoun County, VA.
The official ground breaking 
for the Brambleton Library took place on Friday, February 24, 2017. This state-of-the-art building will be home to Loudon’s newest library enabled by next generation technologies. The Brambleton Library will be located on the 1st and 2nd levels with a shared entrance leading from the parking garage. Bill Fox, Chief Operating Officer for Brambleton, commented,
“We wanted to make this commitment to the county and the community; I want to make it very special and the most advanced library in the country.”
The Brambleton Library will be a hub for community gatherings, collaborating with friends, and hands on learning. A cafe/restaurant has been designed across from the library and will front Willow Creek Drive. The restaurant space has been designed to accommodate a large outdoor dining area. The 3rd and 4th floors will be reserved for office tenants.
Brambleton Group will spend approximately $22 Million on the construction of this new office building. The library will house much more than books on a shelf – it will be a core part of the community, centered on education and hands on learning experiences. Within 40,000 square feet, the library will include a large maker-space, gaming rooms, community meeting spaces, and a recording/mixing studio. Children will also be able to use a “discovery wall” and interact personally with technology.
The Brambleton Group is collaborating with national leaders in technology innovation – The Broadband Group and US Ignite – as well as with Chang Liu of the Loudoun County Libraries to explore a variety of grants. These will allow the library to become one of the first in the country to feature Virtual/Augmented Reality (VR/AR) technology to enhance learning. As noted by Tom Reiman, President of The Broadband Group,
“From its inception, Brambleton has embraced next-generation technologies to enhance residents’ quality of life and employment opportunities. The library represents an important next step in this evolution.”
Bill Wallace, Executive Director of US Ignite, said, “When our youth become truly immersed in learning – seeing and feeling information, as well as reading about it – they are more likely to grasp and retain the information. We look forward to seeing how well Brambleton children learn when they experience walking on the moon virtually with Apollo 11 astronauts, climbing Mount Everest, peering inside the brain to see how it functions, gaming with Steve Jobs, and learning about Thomas Edison and history’s other brightest innovators.”
Virtual learning creates a multitude of educational opportunities; with 3 elementary schools, 2 high schools, and a middle school in the Brambleton community, we expect this library to be very popular among students and teachers.
