Huntsville, AL Becomes a Gigabit City
Huntsville, Alabama Chamber of Commerce discusses the launch of Huntsville Utilities network, with Anchor Tenant, Google Fiber. This historic announcement was made on February 22, 2016.
Tasked with the process of managing the construction and operation of the network, TBG has engaged TBG Network Services (TBGNS), a wholly owned subsidiary of TBG, to oversee this construction management process.
TBGNS is currently reviewing bids for fiber installation of the Huntsville Utilities broadband network. Google Fiber will lease access to the network to provide gigabit Internet services to residents and businesses.

“…people living and working in Huntsville are on track to have lightening quick high-speed Internet and TV services in just a few short years – thanks to the City of Huntsville and Huntsville Utilities.
Huntsville is officially now a Gig City after being selected by Google Fiber to become one of only 10 Google Fiber Cities in America!”
“Mayor Battle emphasized the City’s vision for broadband service is in alignment with Google Fiber’s. ‘Our citizens need and deserve competitive opportunities for connectivity with the highest possible speeds at the lowest possible cost. Google Fiber is committed to the same goal.'”
“Beyond the Mayor’s office, Huntsville’s Gig City Initiative involved a host of local CEOs, Chamber and Cyber Huntsville representatives, national consultants The Broadband Group and CTC, and owners of area start-up companies. Their input was invaluable in creating this new municipal model for gigabit service.”
