Nevada Hospital Association
NHA Awarded $19.6 Million Broadband Grant
January 2011
The Broadband Group and its partners were selected by the Nevada Hospital Association (NHA) to create, and now administer, Nevada’s next generation Statewide Telemedicine Network. After securing $19.6 million from the Federal Broadband Stimulus BTOP program, and an additional $7.2 million in private matching funds, TBG created e-Care Nevada, a sub-recipient of the Grant, to build a network that enables hospitals throughout the state with:
- Administration and provision of the interrelated classes of Tele-medicine and Tele-health services
- Remote diagnostics and remote patient monitoring
- Exchange of electronic medical records
- Educational functions
“This approximately $19.6 million award will allow the Nevada Hospital Association and e-Care to build and operate a statewide telemedicine network to be made available to 50+ medical providers throughout the state, with additional capacity for use by public safety agencies, educational institutions, tribal governments, and last-mile Internet service providers. As many as 56,000 people stand to benefit as do 1,700 businesses. In addition to the more than 100 jobs the Nevada Hospital Association estimates the project will create, it will provide a foundation for economic growth and job creation for decades to come.”
